How clear aligners work
Clear aligners are a sequence of custom-made, removable trays. Each tray applies controlled forces to move teeth incrementally. The orthodontic plan, attachments, refinements and monitoring are individualised.
A planned series of custom clear trays can gradually move teeth for selected bite and alignment concerns.

Selected cases of crowding, spacing, rotations and bite discrepancies may be treated with aligners. Not every orthodontic problem is suitable for aligners alone; fixed braces or a combined approach may be more appropriate.
Aligners generally need to be worn for most of the day, often around 20–22 hours, and removed for meals and drinks other than water. The treating orthodontist gives the exact wear schedule and change intervals.
Ask what the dentist has found, what the treatment is expected to help with and what may happen if you wait.
Ask whether there is another way to treat the problem. Your dentist should explain the good points and limits of each suitable option.
Ask what is included, whether more than one visit is needed and whether medicines, scans, lab work or follow-up visits cost extra.
Ask how to care for your teeth, how long recovery may take and who to contact if something does not feel right.
Your treatment is personal. This guide helps you prepare. Your dentist will check your teeth and explain the options that fit your needs before you make a decision.
